Stralsund
The Hanseatic town of Stralsund is the largest town in Western Pomerania and is located at the Strelasund, the straight between Rügen Island and the mainland. The town is characterised by its varied history. The World Heritage Site old town has unique, historical buildings. These include three powerful brick churches, the imposing marketplace with the Gothic façade of the town hall, the former monastery and nunnery, which is now home to the much visited attraction of the German Marine Museum.
